jp2a software package provides converts jpg images to ascii, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install jp2a
jp2a is installed in your system.
Make ensure the jp2a package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep jp2a *
You will get with jp2a package name, version, architecture and description in a table
